Consolata Hospital
Background
Consolata Sisters opened a small dispensary in 1930, and it grew into Consolata Hospital Kyeni in 1956. Recently, the sisters wanted to expand the hospital with a new wing. In order to get funding, it needed to show that it could meet improved quality standards.
How SafeCare helped
Together with SafeCare, the hospital embarked on a quality improvement journey, raising the quality from level 2 to level 4 in just 4 years.
Tangible results
The hospital now offers specialized services, increasing its resident medical doctors from 2 to 8. It has increased both patient visits (x3.3) and monthly revenue (x2.2). It has improved its relationship with the NHIF and secured contracts with 3 insurance companies.

Future focus
Consolata Hospital has the ambition to achieve a level 5 certification. To this end, it wants to develop a new maternity ward and expand its operating theater. It will also repair its diagnostic unit and introduce a digital health information management system.
