SafeCare was selected because of its innovative approach to improving quality of care in low-resource settings. SafeCare comprises of a methodology that can track, acknowledge and certify incremental quality improvements based on international (ISQua accredited) standards. Instead of a ‘pass-or-fail’ method this approach helps health providers to stepwise improve the quality of care for millions of people in Sub-Saharan Africa each year. In doing so, it stimulates healthcare investments and the contracting of providers to develop a market for quality. SafeCare works with more than 2500 public and private sector healthcare facilities in more than 20 countries.
‘We are honored by this recognition and joining other impactful organizations in the Million Lives Club. This recognition is a tribute to our public and private sector partners who are part of this initiative and without whom this impact would not have been possible” – Nicole Spieker, Director Quality, PharmAccess.
The Million Lives Club is comprised of three cohorts of innovators and social entrepreneurs who are improving the lives of those living on less than $5 a day. SafeCare was selected in the highest category: ‘MLC Vanguard’, which celebrates those who have directly impacted 1,000,000+ clients with their innovations.
The Million Lives Club seeks to nurture innovation ecosystems by recognizing innovators and social entrepreneurs whose innovations have scaled to serve 1 million customers or are rapidly approaching this milestone. The Million Lives Club is an initiative inspired by members of the International Development Innovation Alliance (IDIA) and supported by a growing partnership of leading development organizations. The winners were announced during Devex World 2020. For more information, visit millionlivesclub.org
