SafeCare in Afghanistan – a story from the ground

In 2023, SafeCare achieved a first: accredited assessors carried out a remote quality assessment in Bamyan, Afghanistan. Travel restrictions had prevented the full team from conducting the evaluation in person.

A local quality assessor, Abdul Tawab Baryali, made the undertaking possible. He shares the story in the 2023 Progress Report of PharmAccess.

“My wish is that we should have a hospital certified with SafeCare in each province to offer quality service to the needy people of Afghanistan,” says Tawab. “After 40 years of war in our country, each aspect of life in Afghanistan has been affected, especially in the health sector.”
