Every time a person steps into a healthcare facility, they deserve the best possible care. SafeCare aims to make quality care available to all patients, everywhere. We aim to help facilities improve their quality and become able to meet international standards of care.
what is quality care?
Quality healthcare includes the aspects that affect how healthcare consumers feel about their medical experience. Anyone who visits a healthcare facility wants to be treated with dignity, respect, empathy and kindness. They want their medical concerns addressed swiftly and effectively. They want consistent, well-organized care that leads to positive outcomes. They want to trust that the care they’re receiving is in line with international quality standards. How can facilities get to work providing quality care?
SafeCare offers a methodology and platform that measures the quality of care provided and makes quality improvement easier. We guide facilities, step by step, through the changes they need to make to improve quality. We help them track their progress through the improvement steps, and offer support to make their journey successful.
improving quality with safecare
When a facility engages with SafeCare and invests time and effort into the program, we see significant improvement in the quality of care provided. Of course, patients benefit the most as healthcare quality improves. Not only do they receive better care, but they can also trust that the care they receive is according to international standards. They feel comfortable returning to the facility and recommending it to others.
how safecare supports facilities
Through SafeCare, facilities can assess their current level of quality and receive a score that indicates how far they are in their quality journey. Based on that assessment, SafeCare provides a facility-specific quality improvement plan and supports the facility in making the necessary improvements. If the assessment is conducted by a certified SafeCare assessor, the facility receives a certificate that indicates their current SafeCare quality level. The certificate provides a clear indication of how the facility compares to international standards and other facilities of its type and size.
Based on what SafeCare observes in a facility, it then provides a level of quality to the facility. The level indicates where the facility currently stands in terms of quality provision. Level 1 means that the facility is at the very beginning of the quality journey, needing to take quite some steps to improve. A level 5 facility is a quality champion: it integrates quality in all the aspects of providing care.
patient advocacy
If facilities have not yet engaged with SafeCare, patients themselves can act as advocates on behalf of their own health. This can be as simple as putting a suggestion to improve quality in the facility’s suggestion box, by sharing their personal experiences and potential improvements. Through shared knowledge and support, we believe that patients can be the best advocates for better quality healthcare.
